Albert Street, Blandford Forum

The former Public House in Albert Street, Blandford Forum.

The Wheatsheaf Inn closed in 2015. Karm purchased the site in December 2016 after the previous owner secured planning permission for a terrace of 3 bedroom houses and the conversion of the former Pub building into a 4 bedroom family home.

At the end of March 2017 we submitted a revised planning application to demolish the old pub building and replace it with a similar style building further back on the plot. This was to create additional off-street parking. Sadly this application was refused by the Local Authority at the end of May 2017 for Conservation reasons.

Work therefore commenced on the original scheme for 3 new houses and the pub conversion.

The conversion and refurbishment works subsequently uncovered the poor structural condition of the building and a further Planning Application was submitted at the end of August 2017 to demolish and rebuild new, in the same style and position. This was to maintain the requirements of the Conservation Area.

Work continued on the terrace of 3 new houses while the planning application was decided.

On the 9th November 2017, planning permission was granted to demolish the old pub building and replace it with a new build 4 bedroom detached house in a similar style.
